Moderator information
Freegle Group owners and moderators:
For Freegle Group owners and moderators we have lots of helpful information and resources at:
These include:
- the “Message Maker” – a form which helps your members to format message correctly
- an Image Links creator which allows you to create picture icon links to things like the message maker, your cafe group, your group owners email address, and much more:

- a Firefox toolbar that makes moderating a group far easier
- members plug-ins for Firefox and Internet Explorer
- lots of helpful hints for formatting your Yahoo! Groups homepage.
The Freegle One Stop Shop’s related Yahoo! Group is Freegle Mods Home Page Help. Here, you can get help with the technical side of running a group. The group covers such things as: How to do management things; files, links, polls, databases; the three plug-ins; and home page code stuff. You can also get one-to-one support here. This group is only open to Freegle group owners and moderators, and is also suitable for absolute beginners and technophobes.
Freegle UK Central: The group which all Freegle moderators should join. This is the central discussion and support group for Freegle moderators, and being a member of this group will help you keep up to date with what is happening within Freegle, and allow you to have your say. You need to be a Freegle group moderator to join this group.
Freegle Rock Cafe: This is a cafe-style general chit chat group for Freegle UK volunteers. The easiest way of getting your membership approved is to make sure you are a member of Freegle UK Central.
In addition, there are also 5 working groups which you can join depending on your interests, as long as you are a member of Freegle UK Central. These are:
Freegle Structure: A group to help develop proposals for how Freegle will work as an organisation, what do we believe in and how will we work together.
Freegle Media: A group to help us get that all important visibility that we need to help recruit members.
Freegle People: A group to help look after our family of autonomous Freegle groups. Draft guidelines about how Freegle groups should/could work, how to deal with complaints, guidance on how to moderate Freegle groups, data protection policies, and any other guidelines which would help Freegle groups work better need to be drafted.
Freegle Start: A group to address the issue of affiliating new groups to Freegle. The group needs to propose guidelines on which groups should be agreed to be under the umbrella of Freegle.
Freegle Tech: A working group for technical discussions about tools, the Freegle website, etc.
