Everything must be free, legal, without strings and a physical item. So, no vouchers.

There’s no lending, borrowing, swapping or selling. Freegle is outright ownership, and everything must be Free.

No selling items you receive. If the items, you receive are found on any of the selling sites you will be reported and banned.

However, if you are a Charity or you intend to sell the items on, please make it very clear that it’s your intention to sell the item on and why. Then the gifter has the choice of whether to gift to you or not.

Phone number, full addresses or full postcodes are not allowed on the main board. We are an open site where anyone, member or not can view it. We issue you with your own Freegle email address as we take your safety seriously.

No firearms, prescription drugs, banned substances or rehoming pets. I might allow small animals like hamsters with their complete cages etc.

Please do not write everything in capitals as it is considered shouting online and is viewed as extremely rude.

Do be polite and treat people how you would like to be treated. Also, be patient. Not everyone has their settings set to instantly, some only get weekly messages.

Do be prompt when collecting items. If you can’t make it let the gifter know.

Once your item has been collected, please mark it as taken.

Once you have collected an item, please mark it as received.

Just because you were the first to reply doesn’t mean that the item is yours. It is the gifter’s choice. Personally, I would prefer if everyone waited a couple of days, so people have a chance to reply and then put the names in the hat.

No come and get it posts. First to arrive can have, is completely unfair.

If you are concerned about giving your address out, please organise to meet in a car park instead.

So please only offer actual items using Give or Find to make an Offer or Wanted post. Then to arrange the collection of an item, please use the online chat system to send private messages to members interested in your items.

This service is run by volunteers and is contributed to by real people so please always be polite and collect items at the agreed time.
