OFFER: Apples (cooking and eating apples) (Hatfield AL10)
DESCRIPTION
A bit surprising, but it seems like another very good year for apples here.
At the moment I am collecting windfalls only, and they usually have damage, so they don't store for more than a few weeks. I have been eating them by cutting and editing rather than biting in. So these are not for you if a few brown bits put you off, but they are *delicious*.
However these eating / "dessert" apples are delicious - I do not give away anything I would not use myself. But they are far more than my friends/family/neighbours and I can eat, and I will run out of freezer space for the cooking apples.
Similarly the cooking apples - people usually peel and chop anyway, and these are good for that. Probably not good if you wanted to bake them whole. I don't know what variety - it's a very old tree, but they look like Bramleys and cook like Bramleys. They "fall" well.
